Where else could I start but with Johnny Murdoc?

You might thinks it’s nepotistic to launch off with someone who Class Comics is working with in a BUNCH of ways right now. In fact that’s exactly why I’m starting with Johnny.

Not to plug his comic, Crash Course, (oops did I just do that?), but to bring to light what an industrious and talented fellow he is.  He doesn’t seem to have an “about” page on his website, but that could be purposeful. It might be that there are so many facets to him that he doesn’t/can’t outline them in an orderly fashion.

Mmmm Skaters
So you know he’s a comic book writer. (See above comic book plug!) You probably also know that he writes great erotic fiction as well. PROSE!

His hot fiction, if it’s fiction, is included in three different print books. (That I know of!)  Best Gay Erotica 2011Skater Boys: Gay Erotic Stories and Tight Ends! (Me, I like the Skater boys the best…)

Plenty of creators would stop there, but Johnny knows that getting your work out through others can bring pain with it’s rewards. So he’s also gone out there on his own for all you Kindle lovers! The Horror in Dunwich Hall: A Gay Erotic Horror StoryThe Howling in Dunwich Hall: Gay Erotic Horror and most recently, Hard Lessons: Gay Erotic Fiction are three great direct publications that he’s made available.

Interestingly, he’s making Hard Lessons: Gay Erotic Fiction a learning experience with Amazon Prime, which I hope pays off for him! Get some insight into the details on his blog posting A Possibly Stupid Mistake.

On top of all that, he in fact he calls himself a Micro-Publisher. He’s starting to put his creations for sale directly on his very own Queer Young Cowboys store.

“ Queer Young Cowboys is a micro-pub created by erotic writer, essayist and sex educator Johnny Murdoc. Murdoc did not create the word or the concept of a micro-pub, that honor goes to Chuck Wendig: I like that term. “Micro-pub.” Better than indie, which carries its own debate. Better than self-published, which is a term that sounds about as dismissive and masturbatory as a term can get. (“I just ‘self-published’ my seed into this Kleenex!”) Ahh, but micro-pub! One man publishing. Like micro-brew. -Chuck Wendig, The Trials and Tribulations of the Modern Day Writer”

Hard LessonsSo if that’s not enough for you, you might have noticed that many of our latest comics are LETTERED by Mr. Murdoc!  That’s right, we entrust one of the key final stages of our comics into his capable hands. The bottom line is he improved our lettering, brought us up technically a few notches, and challenged us to learn a few new Adobe tricks.

My last praise for him might be misplaced, but I don’t believe so. He has a great visual aesthetic. His covers, site banners and cutting edge visuals always rock.

I hate to say it, but if Patrick had met Johnny ten years ago instead of me, I could see that they would have made an impressive team together. Don’t get any ideas Johnny, I’m not going anywhere!

Not just a talented writer and designer, but a heck of a nice guy! Here at SEX+STL (http://sexstl.com/), we all try to channel our inner Johnny Murdoc. Often we ask ourselves, WWJMD? Or “What would Johnny Murdoc do?”
